Cowboy Bebop – Tank!
February 25, 2004 in Sheet Music
I did an arrangement of the opening Theme to the cartoon “Cowboy Bebop” way back in 2002. I gave it to a couple of local high schools, and the DVC Night Jazz Band. It’s pretty damn close to the original theme. Take a listen.
I’m making this and one other Cowboy Bebop Arrangement available. If you want more, you’ll have to beg or put some money in my Paypal account
. I have arrangements of Cat Blues and Black Coffee and a couple others nearly done.
These need Adobe Acrobat Reader 6 and need have an account and be logged in to view and print these.
Tank! Parts (1.4 MiB, 6,252 hits)
You do not have permission to download this file.-
Tank! Score (1.1 MiB, 4,249 hits)

Note: Comments have been disabled on this post due because people keep posting stupid things like the solo was done on a tenor, or “please email me it”.

I have Adobe Acrobat Reader 6 and whenever i try to download the score for Tank! it reads “The file is damaged and could not be repaired.” Alot of people are having this same problem. It’s not them, its your file.

Ha! Whatever Einstein. Just loaded it. Works fine.
Care to share your “expert” opinions on anything else?

Alright look, alot of us are having problems with your file(s). If you could simply redo the pdf file into a lower version, it would make alot of us happy. The only thing that you say to us to help open the file is “Download Acrobat 6″ and then, sitting in your own ignorant bliss, fail to realize that Acrobat 6 only works on OS 10.33 and later, and windows XP, and you say to us “I opened it just now, nothings wrong”. If you would just simply put the file into another Adobe format, we would all be a lot happier. I know, its tough, choosing which version to output your document as, but the number one rule in web design is making your content available to everybody. Thank you.

Ignorant bliss my ass. Do I care if you guys can’t join the modern world? No. Get a modern operating system. Windows 98 is like what…….7 years old now? System 9 is what……dead.
Look, it’s Free. FREE. I’ll put it into whatever format I want, and that happens to be Acrobat 6. More document security, so at least I can keep some credit of doing the arrangement. Deal with it.

does anyone know what the name of the band is that plays tank in the theme at the beginning of cowboy bebob?
ericdano said on December 9, 2004
It’s called the Seatbelts

Hey,
I have Acrobat 7, and it still tells me it’s damaged. Do I need the 6.0 specifically, or will the 7 do? or am I doing something wrong. Please help, you don’t know for how long I have been looking for this! (especially Rush)

First off, this is an outstandingly excellent piece and as close as it gets to the original in my personal opinion. Second, thank you very much for taking the time and effort in transposing this piece. I really liked the song quite thoroughly from the show, and I enjoyed it even more playing along with the music thanks to your arrangement. I know how hard it is to transpose music because a friend of mine transposes Final Fantasy music for bands of various types as well. Next about the problems with the Adobe Reader, when you go to download the Adobe Reader, depending on what type of computer you have when selecting what type it is, Adobe Reader’s website will automatically change to download the highest current Reader for that particular computer. Anything below 98 OS I believe will not configure to 6.0 or higher. My advice is to obtain an XP to download Adobe Reader 7.0; because that is the highest it has for XP. If your computer is lower than that of the standards, then you’re out of luck. Oh, i’m not sure if my Band Directors will use the song to take to contest, but if they do, would it be alright for us to use it? I’m asking because unlike other transposers, a lot of them wish to have permission to use their transposed songs, and I certainly don’t blame. But in any case, thank you again for taking the liberty in transposing this song.
ericdano said on January 14, 2005
It’s not transposing, it’s arranging and transcribing. There is a difference.

Oh, my mistake then. Thanks for clearing that up for me. Seems as though I learn something new everyday.

Holy Poop! Its amazing, and so is the recording. Although I believe that on the recording a tenor has the solo, but those high notes are much easier on alto. Nice Job indeed!!
ericdano said on January 17, 2005
Listen again, it’s an Alto.

Acrobat 7. How many times must one say it?

Id grade it a 4.. I mean, in high school, every trumpet should be able to hit a high C, and possibly beyond. I know like 4 freshmen who can hit an octave beyond the high c using 3C Bach Mouthpieces. I hit that with a 1C.

I had the same thing happen to me with the Tank! Files as well as Rush files, but I found a way around it. They wouldn’t open in Acrobat Reader 7.0, but I downloaded an update for it,(7.0.1)(just go to the help menu and select check for updates…)and it seems to work! What I did was update the Reader, and then reopen the files one by one and each one worked, except for Tank!’s Parts file… I can’t get that one to reload, I’ll either have to wait for it to get out of my Temp files (which is where I think it is right now, causing it to just open the same file from before rather than just loading it again) or just try saving it to my hard drive. It seems like you have to load the files again after you update the reader, but there’s your way around the Damage!!! Let me know if it works for you too.

My name is Kevin Major… I am 17 and I have done grade 2 trumpet, and I am studying grade 4. I have absloutley no porblems with the trumpet part (in the high octave). I play a Bach strad. model 180 on a bach 1 1/2 cup mouth piece….
EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT… YOU CANNOT GRADE IT!
majorster said on May 23, 2005
I had tried playing the piece while listening to the actual music, but I was not able to make up my mind weather it was in the right key or not….
If someone is able to figure it out…. whatever
ericdano said on May 23, 2005
You mean if it’s in the actual key of the recording. It is.
majorster said on May 24, 2005
What I mean is the actual key of the riginal piece done my Yoko Kanno..
ericdano said on May 24, 2005
Um, it is. But does it really matter? I mean, go play with the recording with a part. They are in the same key.
Sage2050 said on May 26, 2005
eric is right, its definitely an alto.

ericdano said on August 10, 2005
You know, it’s idiots like you that make the internet crap. I don’t have to let people download things for free. I don’t have to provide to every little smuck who can’t get his computer to work right. In fact, I don’t have to even power up the site. You should be happy it’s here. The stuff works. Because you lack the ability to get the stuff, that’s not my problem.
You have a 10 year old computer that is infected with spyware and other things. Windows. Yeah, what, Pentium II? Windows 95? Go splurge and spend $300 on some crappy windows machine. Join the rest of the world and run something that is faster than walking. I’m surprised that it even lets you get on the net.
Stop being stupid and needly. This site isn’t here for that. I’m not here for that. Ask another stupid ass question and I will ban your IP address (or blocks of addresses) from the site.

Peon said on September 4, 2005
I actually think this is in the wrong key. I’ve been playing it out, and it seems to be in C minor instead of A minor or whatever key you put it in. This is according to the original played by Yoko Kanno and the Seatbelts.
ericdano said on September 4, 2005
Um, no. I don’t believe you know what the heck you are talking about. There is a BIG difference between C minor and A minor.
Peon said on September 8, 2005
Which is exactly why I immediately found something wrong when I started to play the music. I noticed, though, that if you took all the treble clef parts and made them bass clef, it worked out fine, with a few accidentals needed.
If you listen to the first few notes of the song and play them out on the piano at the same time, it’s completely different. I haven’t played any brass in my life, so I might be missing something, but try it. The sheet music starts on E, but the actual song starts on G.
ericdano said on September 8, 2005
The score is transposed. Meaning that the Alto parts are in Eb, the Tenor and trumpets are in Bb, etc.
It’s in the right key. Case closed.

I belive that it is your arrangement that my highschool band is playing. i play 2nd trumpet on it, and i must say, those notes are extremely high! I am not used to playing above a high c (well, now i can play higher a lot easier, but i still cant hit those double-high g’s! im still looking for a suitable mouthpiece.) as a freshman, i belive this song will make me a lot better at playing. it’s a very nice arrangement! good work!

ericdano said on March 10, 2006
Sorry, I had to take it down due to a dispute with the DVC jazz band “director”. Basically, it’s the same as on the album.
ubnub said on March 16, 2006
The solo is a 6 besides that the song is about a 2 or 3 excluding the high A flat in the trumpet.

actually it would be VERY conveniant if i could get this on finale, its what my teacher uses… I’ve been searching for sheet music for Tank! so that i could get my music teacher to let us play it for the jazz ensymble, but i can’t download your pdf files, keeps saying there is some kind of error- my teacher uses finale all the time so it would be great if there was a version of this song for it.
ericdano said on April 4, 2006
It is not going to happen.
I’d try saving the PDFs to disk rather than having your browser try to open them.
