Cowboy Bebop – Rush

March 2, 2004 in Sheet Music

I did an arrangement of the opening Theme to the cartoon “Cowboy Bebop” way back in 2002. It follows that I had to do the another cool tune from the cartoon, and that would be Rush.

I have made this and Tank! available. If you want more, you’ll have to beg or put some money in my Paypal account ;-) . I have arrangements of Cat Blues and Black Coffee and a couple others nearly done.

These need Adobe Acrobat Reader 7 and need have an account and be logged in to view and print these.

  1. This is actually almost the exact arrangement minus the written trombone solo and the added tenor 2/bari part at the beginning. I really do appreciate you making this arrangement and my highschool jazz band plans to play it at our spring concert. I really do enjoy playing this song as well as others by the seatbelts. I know you had said that you would not make any more arrangements, but if you have any others such as space lion, cat blues, or especially bad dog no biscuit I would greatly appreciate it. If you could send them to me I would ttry and send you some money snail mail. My email is Kain_the_slayer@hotmail.com and I want you to understand how appreciative I am of the Rush score already. I really do wish that I had the others though. Bad dog no biscuit would make an excellent middle piece to play at our jazz concert and space lion would be the perfect ballad to put the icing on the cake. Once again thanks Mr. Dannewitz.

  2. “Almost the exact arrangement minus the written trombone solo”? WTF?

Look, I did these like 5 years ago. I have heard there is a book or something out that has arrangements of some songs. I haven’t seen it, nor do I want to. If you actually sit down and listen, Tank and Rush are very simple songs. Except that opening thing in Rush. That was hard to figure out, but programs such as Transcribe make it easy.

I have done a couple of others, such as Cat Blues and Black Coffee. But I am not making them available to the public.

  3. You take that in such a wrong way, I just meant that the trombone solo was not written out. I still think the arrangement was an excellent arrangement. And yes, I agree that they are very simple but our jazz band is very inexperienced in some areas sadly. But anyways I understand if you don’t want to release cat blues. Thanks again for Rush though.

  4. This is fantastic…the only thing is, i can’t get them to work on my computer… is there a different updated version of the score/parts that you have that might work?

  5. What doesn’t work? Did you read the requirements? Adobe Acrobat Reader 7. It’s free. Go download it and try again.

  6. sorry about that…i’m on a mac…so i thought that i had 7, but i had 6…it works now…thanks!

  7. What program did you use to arrange this song?

  8. I use Cakewalk Music Creator Version 2

  9. Dude, Black Coffee, Seriously. I have it. Or at least the the trombone part to it. I’ve had it for ever. If its the song im thinking of you might as well release it. Its an awsome song.

  10. I absolutely love this song and I was hoping to have my highschool Jazz Band play it, but I noticed that all the parts were in the Key of C. And since I do not have a program to transpose it I was wondering if you had another way I could transpose it or if you knew what key each part had to be in. If you don’t know, thank you for your time anyway.

  11. Um, hello. Its already transposed.

  12. But it says it has a bad encrypted Diconary (just not working). So i was thinking mabe you can email the parts to my email, and if i get my director to do this, then mabe i can give you the cd of our band playing it, if there is any recording.
Well, plz just send me the parts, and the score, plz, thanks if you do.
My email is 07sealke@meade.k12.ky.us. (its my school email, hehe)

  13. Sorry about the spelling, now i can’t edit it, sorry about it. (hmm? i am a bad speller)

  14. I’m thinking that perhaps you need to reinstall Acrobat. Or I’m thinking you should try saving the files to disk rather than having them rendered in your browser.

I’m NOT thinking of emailing it to you.

  15. you should make sheet music for Real Folk Blues. I think alot of people would it.

  16. Personally, that song doesn’t interest me at all…….so no.

  17. You can’t belive how grateful I am. I’ll gonna ask our bandleader, if he wants to play it in our university Big Band.
Perhaps you arrangements are going to be played in Leipzig.
You’ve said you have also arrangements of other CB tracks. What else do you have. It’s hard to find music material from CB here in Germany.
I’would be very grateful, if you are willing to share some of your other arrangements with me.
But of course a big Thank You for Rush and Tank.
    With best greatings
    Tobias

PS:Please excuse the the writting mistakes, but I’m too lazy to open my dictionary

  18. Any chance you could do “Too Good, Too Bad?” I’d pay you for the arrangement. :)

    • You know, people say that, and they never follow through. In fact, this one guy took my Super Mario arrangement and they decided that they were going to put it in another key, and wanted me to do it. I said NO. They then supposedly scanned it in and did it themselves. Did I get anything from this? Nope….nada….zero…..zilch…..

So…..don’t hold your breath. I’m pretty much over the whole Cowboy Bebop thing, and when Hollywood messes it up with Keanu Reeves we can bury it and forget it.
