Any more Cowboy Bebop sheet music?

June 27, 2004 in Articles

Master Asia writes “I’ve been a fan of Cowboy Bebop for a good couple years now and every time I heard that theme song playing on Cartoon Network/Adult Swim it got me fired up!! I told myself that if I ever got my hands on that sheet music for Alto Sax or even a good transcription of the song “Tank!” than I would go crazy. So when I found your site and printed out “Tank!” and “Rush” I ran to my sax and started playing it immediately. I just wanted to thank you and say that you did a great job Eric! Tell me if you finish up any more of them.”

I will NOT be releasing anymore arrangements anytime soon….if ever….

Cowboy Bebop – Tank!

February 25, 2004 in Sheet Music

I did an arrangement of the opening Theme to the cartoon “Cowboy Bebop” way back in 2002. I gave it to a couple of local high schools, and the DVC Night Jazz Band. It’s pretty damn close to the original theme. Take a listen.

I’m making this and one other Cowboy Bebop Arrangement available. If you want more, you’ll have to beg or put some money in my Paypal account ;-) . I have arrangements of Cat Blues and Black Coffee and a couple others nearly done.

These need Adobe Acrobat Reader 6 and need have an account and be logged in to view and print these.

  •   Tank! Parts (1.4 MiB, 5,993 hits)
You do not have permission to download this file.

  •   Tank! Score (1.1 MiB, 4,063 hits)
You do not have permission to download this file.

Note: Comments have been disabled on this post due because people keep posting stupid things like the solo was done on a tenor, or “please email me it”.

Yoko Kanno

December 12, 2001 in Articles

Ok, I’ll admit it. I’m a Japanese Anime freak. I love Ninja Scroll, Record Of the Lodoss War, Macross, Macross Plus, etc, etc. My current favorite is Cowboy Bebop. Cartoon Network started showing this series on their Adult Swim lineup.

What really struck me when I first saw this series was the music. Very hip jazz! The intro, through out the series, background music, everywhere. After some digging I found out that a Japanese composer, Yoko Kanno is the genius behind the sounds in Cowboy Bebop. She is also behind the music to Macross Plus, Escaflowne, and more…..

What strikes me about the music is the broad influences she (and I hope I’m correct in saying that) has. Some of the songs sound bopish, others are bluesey, some sound like John Williams (with more hipness).

Anyone know more about her and her music? I’m anxiously awaiting my Cowboy Bebop DVD collection which includes the a CD of the music. Searching the net yielded about 5 albums of music from the Cowboy Bebop series.
