If you haven’t checked out this band, do it. Now.
Interesting take on using effects pedals. A lot of guys are using that Intramic which is a little water resistant mic that you put IN the neck of the sax, but non-destructively. A lot of horns in the 70s, they drilled out a hole in the neck and put in a pickup.
Anyhow, I’m not sure I like this pedals used in this video. Not really my cup of tea, but it’s interesting none the less.
One of the channels I follow, Music is Win, had a video a while back where he tries to learn a Dave Ellis solo. It reminds me a lot of how Michael Brecker would study guitar players (and Drums) to learn new things. It’s a fun video to watch.
Rick Beato posted this great story. Michael is still a LEGEND.
Not sure how I missed this when it came out…..
This should be watched by a lot of musicians. You really should have some sort of stable income but still follow your dream.
Don Menza hands down was one of the most interesting saxophone players I have ever heard talk. Seeing his infamous “make any mouthpiece sound like whatever” clinic was mind blowing. He took a $400 mouthpiece, $100, and a cheap like $10 one, and made them all basically sound the same.
Anyhow, this video is a great listen as well.
There is some interesting stuff here if you want to know how your horn makes sound.
Pretty good thing on Giant Steps by Vox
Preach it brother!
