Jazz-Sax, all things Jazz and Sax
I own a few Music Minus one play-alongs. A clarinet one that has the Stamitz concerto on it, and the one that has the Bolling Suite for flute, and the one that has J.S. Bach Suite No. 2 on it. Those are excellent. I tried out one called “Baroque Play-Along for Tenor Saxophone”. Yikes. Terrible….

Usually, Trombone is my least favorite instrument. Now….not so much. Someone ought to do a fight video or something with the Sexy Sax Man
Ok, not saxophone related, but kinda cool
Hendrix? Check. Modern? Check. Uses a hardly used member of the sax family? Check. I present Colin Stetson.
If you haven’t heard or seen this, it is amazing. Here is the latest one. And here is version 1 Someone needs to do this with saxophones. Like 2000 people playing Giant Steps or something…..
Found this interesting article at WWBW (which is a great place to get stuff BTW) by Greg Vail. “With that said, let’s start with the most common finish – lacquer. Lacquer is a liquid substance that dries hard, protecting the metal of the sax and maintaining its beautiful appearance. Most saxophones are made primarily of…
So, the other day I got the latest woodwind and brasswind catalogue the other day. Other than the prices on everything going through the roof, Yamaha seems to have some strange pricing happening. A YAS-475 (intermediate alto) and a YAS-23 (student alto) are separated by about $110. The same holds true for the YTS-23 (student…
I’m going to start a new thing here to maybe generate some more hits (and potentially money for sustaining the site). The “Sheet Of The Week”. This will most likely be some sort of pop song “saxophonized”. It will be good. We will start off with something by Katy Perry…..Firework. To download the sheets, you…
Have a computer? Have something like Garageband or a Synth sound you really like? Have a microphone? Then you might want to check this out. Thing-1TM – MIDI Performance System Thing-1 is a software MIDI wind controller for woodwind players offering a new range of musical expression to anyone who can play the saxophone, flute,…
Sometime between the end of November and the first part of the year, Jazz-Sax was hit with tens of thousands of registrations of fake and spam users. Like marc162230205 and his brother marc247329716. The result was that pretty much the outgoing email (like registrations and passwords) was shut down due to being flooded with bounced…
Not saxophone, but not everything totally amazing is……and when you see or hear an amazing performance, it doesn’t matter what instrument it is. Here is one such performance….on Ukulele…..
Sometimes, I find things that are just totally cool. This is one of them. Florida based Saxophonist Dean Mongerio showing off his pedals and stuff. Here is what I saw that he is using. 1. BBE SupraCharger Power supply 2. Eventide PitchFactor Harmonizer 3. Q-Tron (older model?) 4. Troop Bypass looper 5. Keeley 4 Knob…

Jazz-Sax has been around a LONG TIME. I’d say one of the longest running sites, since 1997 I believe. And all the stuff here is free. I do require you to register in the hopes that perhaps people comment on stuff, ask questions, etc, etc. I’m not going to password protect posts. Nor require a…
I spent most of new years day going through binders and either scanning or shredding (sometimes both) music I have. I was amazed at how many binders of things I had, and a LOT of it consisted of my II-V patterns and various exercises I wrote for myself. Anyhow, if I had the finale file…
